Call 1-800-372-7181

Sponsor(s):                 R. Alvarado

Status:                        Jan 6 Introduced, Jan 7 Assigned to Committee, Jan 26 Posted to Committee

Committee:                Senate Licensing and Occupation

Timeframe:                 Committee will hear SB 19 Tuesday, Jan 26 @ 10 AM in Annex Room 169

Message is for:           All Senate Leadership, Members of the Senate Licensing & Occupation Committee, and YOUR Senator

Message:                     “Oppose Senate Bill 19, Keep Accountability in the Medical Field”

Optional:                   E-mail the legislators on the committee. Example e-mail address:Firstname.Lastname@lrc.ky.gov . If that doesn’t work they have a contact page on their informational page.

Information:               What this bill does is give a lot control (approved list) of who is appointed to the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure to the Kentucky Medical Association. The oversight of the KMA is done by the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure. While we at TBK do not like all these government controls, the taxpayers are paying for them and as long as they are there needs to be accountability. Nothing prevents the governor from requesting advice from the KMA right now on a good candidate to serve on the board. Further the KMA is a big proponent of “traditional” medicine, and we feel that this would be a step in silencing alternative forms of medicine and healing.

I oppose SB 19: KMA Self Regulation.
When accountability is compromised, standards are lowered and proficiency suffers. The integrity of the Senate must remain above reproach or we all suffer.

We the people have the right to health care options.
