Committee:                Senate Public Protection Committee

Timeframe:                 Committee meets on Wednesdays @ 9AM in Annex Room 169

Message is for:           All Senate Leadership, YOUR Senator, and members of the Senate Public Protection Committee

Message:                     “Support HB 204, don’t discriminate against private and alternative education, allow law enforcement personnel to keep their jobs”

Optional:                    E-mail the legislators on the committee. Example e-mail address: Firstname.Lastname@lrc.ky.gov . If that doesn’t work they have a contact page on their informational page.

Information:               This bill will allow law enforcement officers who received a private, homeschooled, GED, or some other KDE approved education to retain their certification. Over the past few years there has been an effort to not recertify these members of law enforcement. We view this as a liberty issue on two fronts: One, supporting those that exercised an educational choice in this state other than public schooling. TBK is all for educational choices and we need to support those that have chosen a path other than that expected by the “state.” Two this will keep seasoned officers and officers with an alternative view in handling situations (thanks to their alternative education) working the streets to keep us safe.
